Last Chance to Secure Your Seat at a Discounted Rate for the World Congress! #ADHDAwarenessMonth #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplace Senior Engagement Advisor, Corporate Services This video was both emotional and exciting to be part of, and even if only one other person sees it and feels less alone, then I know we’re on the right path. The event itself was a perfect display of community and harmony and I truly am so proud to be part of an organisation that celebrates our diversity. My journey to acceptance peaked just in time for the inaugural “Let’s Rock NSW” event in June this year. Self-acceptance has been crucial in this journey, but just as importantly has been the support of my family, friends and my workplace. My ADHD symptoms, including forgetfulness, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD), impulsivity, and low self-esteem finally made sense, and by recognising and talking about them, my leader and I were able to develop strategies and new ways of working. Sharing my diagnosis journey with my manager was the best decision I ever made. This new self-awareness enabled me to stop forcing myself into roles I believed I should enjoy or excel in, allowing me to embrace my uniqueness. I realised my brain craved variety, novelty, creativity-anything to provide a dopamine boost. Ironically, discovering I had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) helped me recognise this recurring pattern. Meanwhile, my friends and colleagues would passionately pursue their goals and I would cheer them on, while the usual challenges like boredom, depression, and self-sabotage would plague me, inevitably leading to the cycle starting over again. It seemed that I could be exceptionally skilled at something, but only temporarily and intensely before burning out. #WorldCongress2023 #OSHInnovation #SafetyLeadership #PsychosocialRisks #WorkplaceWellbeing #GlobalOSHNetwork #ProfessionalDevelopment #HarmPrevention #FutureOfWorkSafetyįinal Countdown: The Complete Final Programme UnveiledĢ3rd World Congress on Safety & Health at Work on LinkedInīy the age of 23, I had convinced myself that I couldn’t excel at anything.
